A Life Skill

After you've completed all of the required EDT and have passed your driving test, it is important to realise that your learning experience is never over when it comes to driving. Driving is a life skill that can only be mastered by remembering all that you have been taught and delivering it day after day on our roads.

It's important to remember also that all drivers are different. Try not to get frustrated with your fellow motorists, maybe they haven't had the same tuition as you, or perhaps they are learner drivers, like every one of us at one time. Nobody was born able to drive.

Respect all road users but also expect the unexpected on the road. Nobody knows for sure what's around that bend or over that hill-brow so drive in a safe and socially responsible manner, like you've been taught, and driving will become an enjoyable, stress-free task for the rest of your days behind the wheel.

Another part of driving that you will go through (if you haven't already) is owning your own car. Try to make sure you acquire a reliable car. This will stand to you in the long run as long as you look after it. Many cars can become unroadworthy quicker than you think, especially if not looked after properly. So find a good mechanic that you can trust and get it serviced regularly. You will find that you can save time and money this way. You should also realise during your driving experience that a happy car makes for a happier driver!

So to conclude all I can say is to remember and respect this life skill that you have acquired every time you sit in behind the wheel. Driving is a privilege which must be treated with the utmost respect. Remember all of the knowledge you have gained and know that there is always more to learn.

Best of luck.
